10 Year Anniversary

January of 2013 Jacob and I celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We said for the last 3 years that we wanted to celebrate at an all inclusive in Jamaica and that is just what we did. We spent 6 nights at Couples Tower Isle in Ocho Rios. This was a dream vacation to say the least. From the minute we hit the Couples lounge at the airport we were pampered. There was a bit of a drive from the airport to the resort and in our van we met a couple (Guy and Arlene) that was 75 years old and had been married for 54 years. We ended up becoming buddies and hanging out together the entire time. Do not be fooled by their age because these two where party animals. They stayed up later than us every night by closing down the piano bar at 1am and later. Jacob and I can spot out the wild ones even when they try to disguise themselves. Everyone at the resort thought we were their kids. People would come up to us and say oh you guys hang out with "them" they are so cool.

The resort was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was the best I have ever experienced. We were called by our names from the day we walked in. Everyone was genuinely happy to take care of us and serve us. The room had a private balcony and it overlooked the ocean. The view of the ocean was so spectacular. The room had a huge bed and huge shower so I was excited. We loved the king bed so much that we came home and bought one. We decided we were no longer "roughing it" in our queen.

There was more than enough things to keep us busy. We snorkeled and also took a catamaran cruise. The snorkeling was disappointing compared to St. Thomas but if you had never been you would have thought it was cool. Every day the staff had games and little events scheduled. I drug Jacob to every dance class that was offered. We danced Raggae, SoCa, and Salsa. Miguel, event staff, made it his mission to make Jacob a pro at dancing the salsa. Lets just say he stumbled his way through. We also played the newlywed game and taboo.

Included in our package was $100 credit to the spa everyday. I was able to get a pedicure, massage, and facial. Jacob got a hot towel shave, massage, and a hot stone massage. The look on his face when he came back from the hot stone massage was pure delight. He said he has never enjoyed something so much in his life.

I am so glad that we made it a priority to spend the money and take the time away to spend a romantic week away from the busyness of life. I had such a wonderful time laughing and relaxing with Jacob and those are memories I hope to keep forever. If you are thinking about doing it, stop wondering and DO IT.

Dinner at Bayside Grill (Asian)

This was in our "mini bar" and we were "only" allowed 1 of each per day. I was so intimidated I wanted to cover it with a towel. I think Jacob drank 3 fingers worth of the vodka.

Dane and Dad's First Movie Together

From: Jake aka Dad
To: Dane

Today (12-31-12) I took you to your first movie.  I had wanted to see Wreck-It Ralph and long decided it would be our first movie together.  I attempted to take you to it earlier but it didn't work out. At that time we first went to McDonalds so you could run around and get some energy out.  However, when we got ready to leave for the movies you insisted you wanted to go to the house.  Since you were pretty particular at this age I did what you wanted and we didn't go.

For today I didn't tell you anything we just went.  It was snowing but the roads weren't bad so off we went.  We arrived at the theater and you were strangely calm still a little wild but far more subdued than you usually are.  I bought tickets costing ($17.50) for the 12:50 P.M. showtime.  I stopped at the concession stand and bought us some popcorn and you a blue raspberry Icee.  You very much enjoyed the expeirance.  I had a hard time getting you to your seat as you were starting at the screen with such wonderment.  I sat you down and you enjoyed drinking your Icee and eating popcorn.  You seemed to enjoy the movie and would frequently yell out "there he is" whenever Wreck-It Ralph came on screen.  Keeping you quiet wasn't very hard and we had a great time together.

I really enjoyed taking you and love you so much Dane.  I can't wait to take you to many more movies not just the two of us but with the whole family.  I love movies and can't wait to share this love with you and hope you share the passion with me.

Pumpkin Patch 2012

We had our annual trip to Carolyns Pumpkin Patch and it was a great time. This is the first year we tasted the warm pumpkin donuts and lets just say they made quite an impression on me. Unfortunately Dane was not cooperating so we were unable to get his height but Brynna was semi cooperative. This is also the first year we got to watch the pig races or actually do a hayride to pick out a pumpkin. The pig races were pretty cool but it seemed like we waited half an hour for a 2 min race. Dane was chosen to wave a pom pom to encourage the pigs to run faster. I think they enjoyed it. The hayride was pretty cool and Dane really liked going out and picking his own pumpkin. The only issue was he found a medium sized one that was way to heavy for him and it was also rotted so he was so upset when we told him we couldn't get that one. He got mad and insisted on carrying it anyway. I hated breaking his heart when it was so cute that he picked that one. Brynna enjoyed the farm animals and climbing around on everything.
