Dane turns 2!!

We celebrated Danes second birthday on the 16th of October. Both sides of the family came to our house for his party, even Granny Great was able to come down from Nebraska to attend. Dane was so excited to see all of his favorite people in one room. We had a delicious cook out of hot dogs and hamburgers and then we opened gifts. Opening presents this year was much more exciting than last year, he was really into it this time. The hardest part is trying to keep his attention to keep opening the next one because he wants to stop and play with the cool toy he just opened. He pretty much got everything on his wish list. He got two soccer balls which he is really good at kicking. His uncle Luke and Joe both played a little game with him. He got a couple wooden puzzles, a hot wheels race track, spiderman slippers, model magic, a few books, a remote control car, and a Spongebob fishing pole that his Papa Mike got him so he can go fishing with him. Then there was daddy's favorite gift which was a Nebraska windbreaker outfit, GO HUSKERS! Now that he has had a chance to play with some of the toys is pretty clear that one of his favorite ones is the hoops and yoyo card that my mom and sister got him that sings a little birthday song. I think this is one of the few times where a birthday card was actually worth the $5 it cost. After we opened presents we sang Happy Birthday and tried to give him time to blow out the 2 candles but in an effort to save the cupcake and my hand from catching on fire I blew them out for him and then he devoured it. We concluded the night visiting out on the back porch chatting it up and listening to Papa Bob and Papa Mike sing and play the guitar. The highlight of the night was Dane saying "Nana" for the first time. Susie was so excited she fell on the floor hugging him. He also knows how to say Luke and Papa. What an enjoyable time it is having all the family together to celebrate such a sweet boy turning 2.

Brynna's first bite

Well 4 months have blown by so Brynna was ready to start eating some real food. I wasn't sure how this was going to work because she still won't have anything to do with a pacifier or a bottle. She is very picky about what goes in her mouth. I love how her first reaction was to start laughing (classic Brynna). We have given her cereal for a couple days now and she is getting better but still not sure how much she is getting. Day 1 and 2 she just pushed it out as I would put it in. Day 3 I couldn't seem to shovel it in fast enough and she cried when she thought it was gone.

Bottoms up!

Hey no cracks about this cute little baby bottom....

Couldn't resist :)

Brynna is 4 months!

My little angel baby is sweeter and happier than ever. She is really starting to take in her surroundings now. She loves to bat at the toys on her play mat or watch her brother be silly. The coos are in full swing and she laughs just like her brother did. It is almost difficult feeding her sometimes because she can't keep from smiling or laughing at me. She is still sleeping like 12+ hours at night and she currently weighs 16 lbs and 14 ounces. We haven't taken her for her 4 month check up yet but the doctor seen her a week or so ago and she looks great. I am not sure what is up with her hair, it is long but it is patchy and her bed is covered in hair. By 4 months Dane had a very full and thick head of hair. Go figure that my poor princess would have a comb over.

All dressed up for church

Line Creek Choo Choo Train

Close by our house is a little train that circles a big field and you can pay 50 cents to ride on it. I took Dane and Brynna up there this last weekend and Dane thought it was cool but Brynna was not a fan. She was especially upset by the little tunnel that you pass through. The tunnel only lasts a few seconds but that was a few seconds too long for her. She cried off and on the whole time we were riding. I had to pretty much drag Dane back to the car after riding it 2 different times.

Fashionable already

You know sometimes you have to sacrifice comfort to look good and having matching shoes is a must!

Dane is really into wearing mine and Jacobs shoes these days. It is cute for about 2 or 3 minutes and then after that he usually gets so frustrated that he can't walk in them for longer than a minute and then he starts yelling and screaming.

Dane got glasses

Don't worry he only needs them for reading :)

We have been holding on to one of his earlier Christmas gifts because he was a little young for it, it was a Mr. Potato Head with all the accessories. There were actually two spuds with a fireman, nurse, and officer parts. I was in his room with him playing with it and next thing I know I look over and he is reading a book with those glasses on his face. What a goofy guy!

Magic House - STL vacation

Jacob left to see his brother for a week so the kids and I took a little mini vacation with our friends to St. Louis. We had so much fun hanging out at the pool, going to the park, and going to the magic house. The park we went to was really cool, it had a mini zoo there. There was a pig, peacock, cows, horses, ducks, etc. Dane got to feed the ducks for the first time. I can't say that Brynna had as enjoyable of a time as Dane did. She was sleeping in the carseat strapped into the stroller and while we were looking at the peacock she decided to roll down into the ditch and flip over in the stroller. She was perfectly fine praise God but I definitely wont be winning mother of the year this year. I was so thankful that she didn't realize that anything happened.

The Magic House was such a neat place to go to. Dane loved it so much that we didn't get to stay long because he kept throwing a fit every time I would try to take him from one room to the next. It was like every room we went into was the BEST PLACE EVER! Every time I would try to go to another room he would kick and scream and fall on the floor like a mad man. We were there about an hour and then I finally had to throw in the towel and just take him back to where we were staying because I couldn't manage both kids by myself. It didn't help that the place was super busy that day. The little time we did spend there he had so much fun.

One of the rooms he played with some magnetic blocks and was building things. Then he started playing with these tornado type jars and sea shells. Next he played in the water room and then finally there was a room with sand and also slides. I would love to go back when Brynna is older and Jacob is with me. I think we could literally spend the entire day there. Too bad we don't have anything that cool here in Kansas City for their age.

Day at Loose Park

It was a gorgeous day so we decided to go to Loose Park and enjoy a family day together. The kids and I had never been there so we thought we would check it out. The park was beautiful and had lots of things for Dane to enjoy. We started off just walking around and enjoying all the beautiful flowers and the rose garden. I can see why people like to take wedding photos there. After walking around we journeyed over to the playground and let Dane burn off some energy running by sliding and swinging and climbing around. Last but not least we ended our time at the spray park. Dane had a great time playing around. At one point there was a group of young girls that laid their towels down and went and laid on them and next thing we see is Dane walking over and starting to lay down next to them, what a laugh.
