Swinging and the pool

We went swimming in Nana's pool. I think he is going to love the water as much as I do. Susie said she took him back down to the pool to look at something once we got out and he fussed because he wanted to get back in. If the summer goes as planned we will be spending most of our time there.

The teething is still in full swing. He is chomping on everything he can get his hands on. He is even interested in the teething rings now. I put some ice in the mesh bag and he just went to town on it. He was so upset when we took it away to put more ice in it.

Dane had his first encounter with the swings at the park last week but unfortunately I didn't have my camera. I ended up taking him back this weekend and recorded him swinging. He didn't seem as excited but he still liked it.

Tonight at dinner I gave him my corn cob once I was done with it and it kept him occupied for a while. I have another video of him eating it but it was too long to upload. During the video he kept blinking because he was anticipating the flash on the camera. He is once smart cookie!

The teething is in full swing

Dane is having a rough week with his poor front tooth coming in. It has poked through but is not all the way up yet. He is such a trooper but when I lay him down to sleep the poor guys just cries and cries. I think it bothers him more when he is laying down. We are medicating and doing everything we can to make it better, hopefully this will pass quickly. Other than the teething he is still shouting from the roof tops on a daily basis. I think that is his new way of communicating. It is all fine for about a minute and then I am ready for him to stop. I would have thought he would be trying to crawl by now but he doesn't seem interested at all. If there is something on the floor he can't reach he would rather cry then try to get it. He can roll over but never does for the sake of getting something. Jacob has been working with him on his walking so maybe he will just skip all that crawling stuff.

Last week I started back to work on a very part time and temporary basis. I think the timing is good because I do not want Dane to be so attached to me that he doesn't feel comfortable anywhere else. I am so blessed that my Aunt has summers off and has agreed to watch him for me while I work. She is so great with Dane and really seems to enjoy spending the quality time with him. I know some of my fondest memories from childhood was being with my grandparents and my aunt. Dane is so lucky to have so many people that adore him. I am still planning on having lots of time off to go to the pool and play. I took Dane to the park last Saturday and pushed him in the baby swing. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me but he loved it. I will make sure I have it next time.

Self sufficient

Last night Dane was laying in bed asleep and he woke up whining, Jacob and I went and looked at the monitor and we could see him on his back (which he hates) with his pacifier in his hand. A few seconds later he drops his pacifier so I am thinking I am going to have to go in and put it back in his mouth and roll him back to his stomach. All of the sudden he picks up his pacifier, puts it back in his mouth and rolls over on his side and falls back to sleep. Hallelujah!!! I wasn't sure if this was a one time thing but he did it again today when I got him up from a nap. He was holding his pacifier in his hand and then stuck it in his mouth. Could this actually be the beginning of restful nights? Last night was one of like 4 nights he actually slept 12 hours straight. I woke up in shock! These milestones are bitter sweet I have to say. I am so excited when he learns something new but then again it means he is growing up so quickly and I am going to miss my little baby.

Danes new hobbies

Dane is totally infatuated with Jacobs camo crocs. Dane will stop right in his tracks if Jacob walks by wearing them. I have to find him some of his own.

His other hobby is screaming at this lizard. It is the funniest thing to watch him. He only does it to the lizard and he does it every day several times. If you hear him screaming you can pretty much bet that he is giving that lizard a piece of his mind. Please don't pay attention to his hair. This was pre hair cut.

6 month dedication

Mothers Day had a whole new meaning to me this year. I feel so blessed to experience being a mom. It really made me realize what a sacrifice our moms go through for us. I finally realize what it means to love like a parent. To make mothers day even more special Dane was also dedicated. It was so wonderful to have all of my family at church with us. We were also blessed to have Jason and April (Jacob's brother and wife), Jacob's grandma Jackie and Aunt Shirley, and the Hausners too. As you can see we pretty much doubled the attendance that Sunday :) It was kind of an emotional service for me because I just want Dane to grow up in a loving home and to know the love of God at an early age. I felt a real conviction to be praying for his future as well as the now. I was really encouraged at the end of the service because a woman really felt like God was telling her that Dane was going to be a David. He would be strong in the Lord and whenever the Goliath's would come he would be armed with the word. I can only pray that he will be.

Dane's 6 month photos were done on Wednesday. It is so hard to not empty our savings account and buy all of them. Today he started saying dadadadadada. It is so hard to believe that he will be 7 months old on Sunday. Where does the time go? He is still off and on with his sleeping. He is going to bed around 7 but you never know if he is going to wake up during the night or not. He is usually pretty good about sleeping until 5:30 or 6:00 but he is ready to go then. He is also eating lots of new things. So far he doesn't seem to be too picky but yesterday I tried to feed him turkey and gravy and he did not like it at all. Today I tried to feed him a mum mum and pretty much got the same reaction. Later on I tried to give him this flavored dissolving puff and he was not having any part of that. He was spitting like crazy. I tried it a couple times just for my amusement. I love to watch him make funny faces.

Update on 4 of the 5 boys

Well it is going to become harder and harder to get a picture with all five of the boys but we did manage to get four of the five this time. It is so crazy watching them all grow up. Levi is two months younger and already weighs more than Dane. And call me crazy but I think that Tucker is already playing favorites and him and Asher have a secret alliance going on. Don't tell them but I think Dane is on to them already.
